The Consequences of Change

Change has come to Washington. And oh how the consequences hurt.

Thanks to our president, your tax dollars will now be used to fund the destruction of embryos for the sake of scientific research. Never mind the fact that through previous state and private grants, we have spent years and millions of dollars on this research already. The result? NO patient has been successfully treated with human embryonic stem cells. Not a single one. Never mind that adult stem cells, which do not destroy anything, have proven to be effective time after time. Never mind that millions of Americans object to being forced to have their taxes used to fund the destruction of human life.

Speaking of being forced, our president announced Friday that he wants to overturn rules that protect health care providers' freedom of conscience. Obama has vowed to overturn President Bush's reinforcement of federal laws that protect doctors from being forced to participate in abortion and other anti-life practices. Imagine that - a doctor trained and devoted to saving lives and healing people will be forced to kill lives and hurt people. Is there a better definition of insanity? Is there a better example of a morally bankrupt government?

Speaking of bankruptcy, the government may be in so much debt that our grandchildren's grandchildren will be paying for it. But that hasn't stopped our president from declaring that we have the obligation to fund abortions performed overseas. Through his reversal of the Mexico City Policy, which banned this type of taxpayer funding, Obama is effectively saying: We are in the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression and we have to immediately spend trillions of dollars to “stimulate” the economy. And while we're at it, let's spend millions more to help countries who cannot afford to abort their own babies.

So I ask again: Is there a better definition of insanity? Is there a better example of a morally bankrupt government?

Yes, elections have consequences. Congratulations, America, you wanted change and you got it - along with the consequences. And guess who else gets to deal with the consequences - America's future generations - especially the ones who have been aborted or used for scientific experiments.

Obama's Nominee for #2 AG Position: Pro-Gay / Porn / Abortion

I received this notice from the American Family Association.   Another indicator of where Obama stands on these issues.

President Obama has nominated David Ogden to be the second person in command in the U.S. office of the Attorney General! Ogden must be confirmed by the Senate.

Call your two senators and tell them to vote against the Ogden nomination. Ogden is no friend of the family.

• As an attorney in private practice, David W. Ogden has filed briefs pushing for gays in the military.
• He has litigated numerous obscenity and pornography cases on behalf of clients like Playboy, Penthouse, the ACLU and the largest distributor of hardcore pornographic movies.

In various cases, he has filed briefs opposing:
• parental notification before a minor’s abortion
• spousal notification before an abortion
• the military’s policy against public homosexuals serving in uniform
• the Children’s Internet Protection Act and the Child Protection and Obscenity Enforcement Act.

Take Action!

Make your phone call today! Get others to call. Tell your senators to vote against the nomination of David Ogden to the second position at the attorney general’s office. You can reach both of your senators at this number: 202-224-3121.

Here is one Senator who will vote against the "stimulus" bill

I just received this e-mail from John McCain:

Dear Bowe ,

Yesterday, the Senate began debate on an economic stimulus package that is intended to get our economy back on track and help Americans who are suffering through these difficult times. Unfortunately, the proposal on the table is big on the giveaways for the special interests and corporate high rollers, yet short on help for ordinary working Americans. I cannot and do not support the package on the table from the Democrats and the Obama Administration. Our country does not need just another spending bill, particularly not one that will load future generations with the burden of massive debt. We need a short term stimulus bill that will directly help people, create jobs, and provide a jolt to our economy.

I believe we need to evaluate every bit of spending in this stimulus proposal with one important criteria - does it really stimulate the economy and help create jobs - if the answer is no, it does not belong in a so-called stimulus package. Furthermore, the stimulus must include significant direct relief to American workers in the form of payroll tax cuts and programs to help homeowners keep their homes. Finally, we need an end game to this stimulus so that when our economy recovers, these spending programs do not remain permanent and saddle our children with a skyrocketing national debt.

I appreciate the discussions President Obama is having with my Republican colleagues, but the time for talking has come to an end and we must now begin some serious negotiation. But as of yet, Republicans have not been given the opportunity to be involved. The House of Representatives passed a stimulus bill without a single Republican supporting it. In the Senate, the Democrat leadership is trying to jam the existing proposal through regardless of reservations from a number of members. With so much at stake, the last thing we need is partisanship driving our attempts to turn the economy around.

I have long been a fighter against wasteful spending in Washington and long an advocate for a balanced budget -- that will never change. I realize we face extraordinary challenges with our economy today, but that is not an excuse for more irresponsibly from Washington. I hope you will join me in saying no to this stimulus package as it currently exists by signing this petition.

Sincerely,

John McCain
Chair, Country First PAC

Guess what your tax dollars are funding?

President Barack Obama on Friday struck down the Bush administration's ban on giving federal money to international groups that perform abortions. This effectively means:

1) Our tax dollars are going to pay for abortions overseas.
2) Obama is confirming his belief that abortion should be used as a population control method.
3) Obama's promise to "reduce the number of abortions" is empty political rhetoric.
4) The size of the federal budget deficit (trillions and counting) does not matter to Obama when it comes to subsidizing abortions with taxpayer money.

Please pray that God will change the heart of this president. And pray for the thousands - perhaps millions - of lives who will be lost or negatively impacted by this decision.

Imago Deo,

Bowe Hoy

Stop FOCA petition

The National Right to Life Committee is coordinating a petition drive to stop the so-called Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA).   FOCA is being aggressively pushed by abortion supporters and will most likely hit the Senate floor at the next session in January.  Barack Obama, speaking to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, July 17, 2007 said the following: "The first thing I'd do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act.  That's the first thing that I'd do."

The petition reads as follows:

THE NATIONAL PETITION TO STOP THE FEDERAL NO-LIMITS-ON-ABORTION BILL
To All U.S. Senators and U.S. House Members:  We urge you to reject the so-called "Freedom of Choice Act" (FOCA).

This is a proposed federal law that would:
  • make the brutal partial-birth abortion method legal again.
  • require tax funding of abortion on demand, even when used as a method of birth control.
  • nullify all state limits on abortion, including laws requiring parental notification before an abortion is performed on a minor.
President-elect Obama has endorsed the enactment of the FOCA

FOCA is an extremely dangerous bill and pro-lifers everywhere need to step up to stop it from becoming law.  We need to notify our community about FOCA and give people the opportunity to voice their opposition to it.   I am convinced that a significant majority of people will oppose FOCA once they realize how blatantly radical and far-reaching it is.   This petition is an excellent way to empower people from our community to make a difference.  Through it we can make our voices heard loud and clear, communicating to our congressional representatives that many people (I believe a significant majority) oppose this bill.
